The Sigma Beta Club was established in 1950 by the national voting body of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

The mission was to establish a mentoring program for disadvantaged youth.

It has evolved into an internationally recognized youth auxiliary group that continues to be orchestrated by members of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

The local Sigma Beta Club of Irvington, Plainfield, Roselle and Newark School Districts is a program that is managed by the Chi Sigma Chapter, Inc., which is a local chapter of the Fraternity, serving Northern New Jersey.

The primary objective of the Sigma Beta Clubs is to use a holistic approach to empowering, enriching, and enhancing the lives of young boys through mentoring relationships. To ensure success, we focus on six core areas:

Academic Achievement
Social & Professional Etiquette
Building Self-esteem
Community Service
Understanding Free Enterprise
Leadership Development
